Idiot Of The Week: Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte
This is my favorite part of the week. When we get to announce who has won the glorious title of “Idiot Of The Week.” With the Presidential debates, the quickly approaching election, and all of the scandals that have riddled the media lately, I can honestly say that this week's competition was hard. Yet, as promised, the winner of Idiot Of The Week is, Rodrigo Duterte.
I certainly hope you are familiar with the Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte by now, because if you aren't then you are missing out on a lot of laughs. The Philippines isn't the biggest or the scariest country on the planet. However, Rodrigo Duterte is quickly changing their world perception after he quickly rose to media fame. He, unfortunately, has stayed in that media stardom ever since.
It's his most recent antics that have won him the title of “Idiot Of The Week.”
When you're comparing yourself to a great world leader, who would you chose? Winston Churchill? Ronald Reagan? John F. Kennedy? Usually, you would choose someone powerful. Someone with dignity, class, and respect, right? Well, Mr. Duterte decided that he would compare himself to Hitler. That's right, Adolf Hitler.

He recently was commenting on the millions of drug addicts that populate the Philippines. During his speech, he said, “Hitler massacred 3 million Jews. Now there is 3 million, what is it, 3 million drug addicts (in the Philippines), there are. I'd be happy to slaughter them. At least if Germany had Hitler, the Philippines would have (me)…”
I wish I could say that comment is the only reason he wins the title this week, but unfortunately, it's not. He also decided to try and pick a fight with the United States. That's never a good idea for a small, impoverished country to do.
The United States and the Philippines have been running joint military exercises for awhile now. Yet, the most recent one was started with a word from Duterte, which said, “I serve notice to you now that this will be the last joint military exercise with US.”
He didn't stop there.
He also said that he was going to “break up with America,” a parting goodbye I'm sure the US will not cry over. He also told President Barack Obama to “go to hell.”
I don't want to be the one to say it but it seems like Duterte suffers from a Napolean Complex. So, Duterte, the small dog with the big bark, we offer you the title of “Idiot Of The Week.”
