In rural Pennsylvania, firefighters responded to a call about a man being assaulted in the woods. They later discover around 100 young people partying – a violation of the state’s stay-at-home order amid the coronavirus pandemic.

At around 5 a.m. in Fayette County on Saturday, members of the Grindstone Volunteer Fire Department found the hidden party. According to Chief Rich Lenk, the party also involved some underage drinking.

Quarantine Order Violations

Authorities found around 100 people. Lenk, however, said he believes there were more partygoers earlier when the party started at around midnight.

“The Grindstone vfd responded to a man assaulted in the woods early this morning at 5am in Sherbondy hollow. We had to use side by sides to locate the young man. Upon looking for him, we found a 100 person youth drinking party,” said the Grindstone Volunteer Fire Department on a Facebook post.

“Some were passed out in vehicles laying on top of one another, some were still upright still going strong. Please, if anyone has children, do not let them go to these parties in this area. Especially now in this time we are to stay 6 feet away from each other. The young man was found and taken by ambulance to the hospital,” the post added.

According to Lenk, the carelessness of the partygoers did not only put everyone at risk – but it also forced the crews to use their limited resources.

“We don’t have that much equipment to wear and we have to put it on and come back in here,” he said. “We got handed 10 masks by the county and I think we used that all last night.”

“We’re supposed to be staying away from each other at this time, but even in any time back in here it’s bad to get back in here,” said Lenk.

According to Fox News, Pennsylvania State Police were also called in to help break up the gathering.
