30-Year-Old Florida Wildlife Conservation Officer Shot Dead While Off Duty
On Sunday morning, 30-year-old Florida Wildlife Conservation officer Julian Keen Jr. was shot and killed. Three suspects are now in custody.
Keen was off duty at the time of the shooting, reported Fox 13. According to the Hendry County Sheriff’s office, Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene in LaBelle and found Keen.
“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the tragic death of Officer Julian Keen. Our thoughts are with his friends and family during this difficult time,” tweeted the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (@MyFWC).
According to a tweet from the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, someone killed Keen “while reportedly taking action off-duty on a hit and run crash.”

Fox News reported that three suspects were in custody and under investigation.
Hendry County Sheriff Steven Whidden also said: “We are deeply saddened by the death of FWC Officer Keen. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, members of FWC, friends and community. We will do everything we can to bring about justice to those guilty in his shooting death. We all knew Officer Keen, and he wasn’t only our brother-but a role model for the community, he will be missed.”
Florida Highway Patrol Command Officers Association also described Keen as “a genuine officer who would literally give his shirt off his back to ANYONE who needed it.”
