Friends of Chris Christie Say He’s Thinking About Running for President in 2024
Chris Christie is reportedly one of the several Republican figures contemplating on running for the White House if former President Donald Trump doesn’t run in 2024.
Christie, who previously served as the governor of New Jersey, is allegedly telling some of his friends that he’s “seriously considering” running for president in 2024 if Trump doesn’t. As per Axios, his candidacy’s rationale would say that he’s the only person among the possible GOP candidates who’s had executive experience. Additionally, Christie has run for the position before.
Christie earned national recognition from conservatives 10 years ago because he stood up to New Jersey’s teachers’ unions. His tough, straight to the point attitude as a Republican governor of a primarily blue state excited members of the GOP who were looking for someone to go against Barack Obama in 2012. Christie, however, did not run that year but instead ran for the presidency in 2016. He lost to Trump on that year.
In 2016, Christie went on to endorse Trump. He also served as the head of the former president’s transition team. In 2018, he became a commentator at ABC News, and now, in that position, is known to be a vocal critic of President Biden.
Christie previously stated that if Trump didn’t run for president in 2016, he would have won the presidential nomination from the Republican Party.
If Christie decides to run again, he would have to try and appeal to Trump supporters with more tough talk and less recklessness.
