The wife of Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger tested positive for the coronavirus on Thursday – prompting him to self-quarantine.

A day earlier, Raffensperger has announced plans for a hand recount in Georgia’s presidential election – as President-elect Joe Biden and President Trump were separated by around 14,000 votes.

However, following his plan to self-quarantine, he won’t be able to personally supervise the recount.

According to Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs, Raffensperger would quarantine even if he tests negative. His staff will also quarantine if he tests positive for the virus.

WSBTV reported that Raffensperger’s wife, Tricia Raffensperger, tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from traveling.

In a later article by WSBTV, Raffensperger tested negative for COVID-19 a day after the announcement that his wife tested positive.

Georgia's Secretary of State took two tests in the last 24 hours and both results came back negative. Nonetheless, he and his senior staff are in quarantine.
