Gov. DeSantis: ‘Stay Out Of Our State’ to the Rioters and Left-Wing Thugs in Press Conference
GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis warned rioters to stay out of Florida during a news conference last week, where he announced his support for law enforcement.
Last month, the Florida governor signed anti-riot legislation into law that would crack down on violent protests. These include destructive riots that are anti-police. DeSantis also increased financial support for first responders, giving them $1,000 bonuses.
Talking about the seeming lack of respect towards law enforcement officers and the refusal of several officials to crack down on violent protesters, DeSantis had warned left-wing activists and rioters from Portland to stay out of Florida. He said they don’t want such activists to cause problems, and if they do, there would be consequences.
DeSantis earlier discussed the riots that happened in the country last summer. With this, he called out some officials’ lack of effort in controlling such people and said that they do not want riots in Florida. The governor added that if a person oversteps another person’s rights, causing destruction and violence, they will make sure such a person would be penalized.
In April, the Florida governor signed an anti-riot bill into law. He touted it as a victory for state residents. DeSantis also claimed that it is the “strongest” legislation that is anti-riots and pro-law enforcement.
He also spoke about bonuses for law enforcement personnel. The governor said these people served as “a top priority” for his administration as governor. DeSantis added that the bonuses serve as a small token showing their appreciation for these officers and first responders.
