Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said on Wednesday that a lot of people moving to Florida have registered as Republicans as the lockdowns in many Democratic states have given them a reason to reconsider staying in their political party.

DeSantis pointed out that at first, the media like to say “Florida is bad” in an effort to damage him and Trump. He said the media did this despite facts indicating otherwise.

The governor said that the people behind such “phony narratives” probably had no plans on coming to Florida. However, DeSantis believes that people see through such narratives and think like them. The governor then claimed that such people are coming to the state and that he believes they’re registering to become Republicans.

DeSantis said that the people he’s talking about have become Republican due to the lockdowns in Democratic states.

Just last week, Gov. DeSantis reiterated that he doesn’t plan to bow down to narratives by the left and to fake news. At Allegheny County’s yearly Lincoln Day Dinner, he told Republicans that he had only started to fight. He also warned that the party should not go back to “the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear.”
