Former professional football player Herschel Walker calls on local leaders to end riots across the U.S.

On Monday, Walker tweeted a video where he argued that rioters should serve federal time.

The former football player said in the video that he has seen many beautiful cities destroyed by the riots. “I saw all these local leaders that won’t step to the plate to protect their citizens or their citizens’ businesses,” he then added.

“So I’m going to step up to the plate and become a local leader in a sense that I want to put in a mandate that anyone arrested during a riot and they’re not from that city, they don’t have a resident in that city or that town, should be arrested and get federal time,” he added.

“Outsiders coming to Riot into other communities should get Federal Time for destroying lives and businesses! #StopTheViolence,” the video's caption says. It also mentioned Fox News, CNN, and President Trump, among others.

According to Fox News, Walker’s remarks come less than a day after President Trump “blamed ‘Radical Left’ Democratic governors and mayors for unrest in cities across the country that occurred over Labor Day weekend.”

“Rochester N.Y., Brooklyn N.Y., Portland – All had bad nights, all weakly run by Radical Left Democrat Governors and Mayors! Get the picture?” Trump said on Twitter.

Fox News also mentioned that Walker spoke at last month’s Republican National Convention, defending President Trump against racism accusations.
