Hilton Closes Their Doors On Traditional Values
- The Hilton hotel group is under extreme backlash after they posted an ad in Travel and Leisure magazine.
- The ad showed two men smiling and cuddling in bed.
- The American Family Association has started a petition against the ad that already has over 42,000 signatures.
An ad from the Hilton hotel has recently caused an online petition. The ad in question? A full-page ad of two men smiling while cuddling in bed. That was enough to send the American Family Association into a frenzy of hysteria. So far, their online petition against the ad has accumulated 42,000 signatures.
The ad appeared in Travel and Leisure magazine for their July 2016 edition.
The American Family Association said, “if Hilton had advertised two men playing tennis, cards, or having lunch, that would have been reasonable. However, Hilton chose to make a cultural and social statement by purposely marketing the promotion of homosexuality to a large segment of the population who finds the idea of two men sleeping together unnatural and offensive.”

The petition that is now getting web stardom states that “If Hilton is going to advertise in mainstream media, at the very least, it should promote with images that reflect a family friendly atmosphere.”
Not only has social media exploded about the ad but some people have promised business because of it.
The American Family Association (AFA) claimed that the Hilton said, “Hilton Worldwide is a global company of diverse cultures serving diverse guests…We are proud to depict and reflect our guest diversity in our advertising…”
The AFA has been known to start petitions against companies and their policies. The most recent petition, that gain more than 1 million signatures was against the bathroom law from Target. Stating people could use whatever gender appointed bathroom that they identified with.
I guess we will see how far this petition gets. Yet, until then I'll always stay at the Hilton.
