U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida, speaks in Nashua-Hypocritical Travel Ban-ss-featured

Senator Marco Rubio (FL) called out the Biden administration’s hypocritical travel ban considerations. “The day after Donald Trump issued a travel ban on China, Joe Biden said this is no time for xenophobia and that sort of thing,” Rubio said on “Fox & Friends. Rubio added that a month later, Biden tweeted out that banning travel from anywhere won't work.

Rubio reacted to the Miami Herald's report that the White House wants a travel ban. It said that the Biden administration is considering imposing domestic travel restrictions. This ban includes Florida, as new strains of coronavirus threaten the US. Previously, scientists discovered new strains from the UK, Brazil, and South Africa. US health officials worry the strains might get loose in the country as well.

“The Biden administration is considering whether to impose domestic travel restrictions, including on Florida, fearful that coronavirus mutations are threatening to reverse hard-fought progress on the pandemic,” the Herald reported.

Travel Restrictions Are Unconstitutional

Rubio ripped the Biden administration for considering a travel ban between states. “So now that they're considering actual restrictions on Americans inside the country, I think it is unconstitutional. I think it's going to be challenged in court successfully,” Rubio said.

Press secretary Jen Psaki said that Biden’s description of former President Trump’s policy as “xenophobic” might be a little unfair. However, previous statements made by the president indicate it’s an accurate description. “I don't think that's quite a fair articulation,” Psaki told Fox News. “The president has been clear that he felt the Muslim ban was xenophobic. He overturned the Muslim ban.” She added that Biden's travel restrictions aim to keep Americans safe. It also hopes to put the pandemic under control. “That's been part of his policy, but he was critical of the former president for having a policy that was not more comprehensive than travel restrictions,” she explained.

DeSantis Also Calls Out Biden Administration

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also called out the Biden administration. He promised that the state would strongly oppose any attempts to block Americans from traveling to Florida. The Republican governor called the plans for a travel ban “absurd” and a “political attack on the people of Florida.” DeSantis said it’s “ridiculous” to impose curbs on domestic travel while at the same time relaxing restrictions on the US-Mexico border.

“Any attempt to restrict or lockdown Florida by the federal government would be an attack on our state, done purely for political purposes,” DeSantis said at a press conference. Also, he questioned the need for restrictions for Florida given the state ranks in the middle in terms of COVID-19 fatalities. Meanwhile, the governor agreed with Rubio, saying that the proposed travel ban “would be unconstitutional, it would be unwise and it would be unjust.”

Florida Already Reeling

Psaki responded after DeSantis’ press conference. “We are always considering what steps are necessary to keep the American people safe, but we are not currently in the process of, no decisions have been made around additional public health measures that would delay or would change, I should say, domestic travel considerations,” she clarified.

Florida will take an immediate economic hit once the government implements any form of restrictions. Florida relies heavily on tourism, and the state already is reeling from the effects of the pandemic. In fact, Florida’s budget deficit would have grown much larger if not for the previous coronavirus relief the state received.

Travel ban between states? Sure, and line up the cattle cars like they did in Germany – you remember Germany don’t you? The fictitious event that killed millions of people who happened to be Jewish – it was written about in some book – but it didn’t really happen did it?

This whole Covid issue is horse manure! The parameters of operating safely have changed so many times, I almost think they are making it up as they go – oh, wait, they are making it up as they go!

The “NEW” strains of the virus are coming from OUT OF the Country. So instead of banning foreigners coming here, he LIFTED THOSE BANS but wants to ban interstate travel to ONE state (?spring break)
In the meantime they (AOC) want to give $1000. help RETROACTIVELY to those families who had a death “allegedly” from Coronavirus, including those illegally in the United States. What about funds for seniors living on less than $1500/mo the ‘value’ of what people on welfare with kiddos get? (Also the get more stimulus $ per kiddo, maybe up to $3600 EACH) When did senior become so WORTHLESS ? OH, under Biden/Harris now that we helped elect them.
