A number of Republican lawmakers are urging Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) that it’s time for him to join the GOP. This comes as several Democrat party mates are egging the West Virginia senator to leave the Democratic Party.

Many Republicans Will Welcome Joe Manchin To The GOP
Last week, Manchin angered many Democrats by saying he can’t support the Biden administration’s $2 trillion Build Back Better proposal.
As a result, a growing number of Republican lawmakers said that they’d welcome Manchin to their fold should he decide to leave.
Publicly, however, Manchin never gave any indication of wanting to switch parties. A source said that in the ten years he worked with Manchin, “he’s never once discussed switching parties with me.”

Among the most prominent Republicans who want to see Manchin join them is Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). McConnell told reporters that a potential Manchin switch “would be a great idea.”
Former Democrat Now Republican Congressman Wants Joe Manchin To Switch Too
Representative Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) knows how switching parties feel. The New Jersey representative made headlines in 2019 by announcing his move from the Democratic Party to join the Republicans. Van Drew said that Joe Manchin will receive a warm welcome from his party mates.
“I am not sure whether Senator Manchin will switch parties, but I have no doubt the Republican Party will welcome him with open arms, as they did with me,” Van Drew told Fox News.
“Personally, I hope Senator Manchin does make the switch,” he added. Manchin shouldn’t experience problems feeling at home soon. “Speaking from experience, I can say it was one of the best decisions I ever made,” Van Drew concluded.
Other GOP Bigwigs Endorse Joe Manchin’s Switch
Other Republicans are also enjoining Senator Joe Manchin to join their ranks. On Tuesday, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR), criticized the treatment given to Manchin.
In particular, Cotton slammed Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for saying Manchin is not a good Democrat when he is an Independent himself.
As a result, “maybe it is time for Sen. Manchin to come over, and we’d welcome him with open arms if he did.”
In addition, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) agreed that Manchin would be welcome at the GOP. However, he also said that the West Virginia senator is facing an uphill battle.
“I will say I think it’s a tough hill for him to climb. He’s just culturally, he’s a Democrat. He’s been a Democrat his whole life, and he’s really the godfather of Democrats in West Virginia.
So I get why switching parties, that’s hard. That being said, if they’re nasty enough, the best thing that could happen is they could drive him over to the Republican Party, and we would welcome him.”
Cornyn and Hagerty
Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), said he sent Manchin a note. “Joe, if they don’t want you, we do,” read the note. “I don’t know what he will decide to do.
But I do know West Virginia has gotten increasingly red,” he said. Cornyn also said that Manchin’s Build Back Better vote reflects the sentiments of his West Virginia voters. “So yeah, we’d love to have him. That would change the majority,” Cornyn added.
Meanwhile, Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) will also welcome Joe Manchin to the party. “We’re in a dead set 50-50 Senate.
The only reason they have control is that they control the White House. And of course, we’d be happy to have Joe Manchin.” he said.
