The Media Is To Blame For Hyping Police Shootings
- Videos of fatal police encounters that capture the public's attention and are shared broadly across the internet can fuel the perception that “something terrible is being done by the police.”
- Americans “actually have no idea if the number of black people or brown people or white people being shot by police is up, down or sideways over the last three years, five years, 10 years.”
- That narrative creates a wedge between law enforcement and the public.
WASHINGTON — Dramatic videos of deadly law enforcement encounters and the absence of reliable data about how often police use force contribute to a regrettable narrative that “biased police are killing black men at epidemic rates,” FBI Director James says.
That story line has formed amid a lack of comprehensive, national data about how many citizens are killed or injured at the hands of police officers.
Videos of fatal police encounters that capture the public's attention and are shared broadly across the internet can fuel the perception that “something terrible is being done by the police,” even if the data aren't there to back it up, said Sunday, speaking in San Diego during a gathering of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

“It is a narrative driven by video images of real and gut-wrenching misconduct, by images of possible misconduct, by images of perceived misconduct,” said. “It's a narrative given force by the awesome power of human empathy.”
Americans “actually have no idea if the number of black people or brown people or white people being shot by police is up, down or sideways over the last three years, five years, 10 years,” or if black people are more likely than white people to be shot during police encounters, said.
That narrative creates a wedge between law enforcement and the public, keeping “good officers in their car” and perhaps causing them to think twice before making a certain traffic stop at midnight, said.
“Our officers see the videos. They desperately do not want to be in one. They think about that all the time,” he added.
On the other side of the divide are distrustful community members who stay quiet instead of sharing information with the police after a crime, he said.
“And so into the chasm, into that gap of distrust, fall more dead young black men. In places like Chicago, we know what the chasm looks like and how much pain it causes,” the FBI director said.
The FBI is moving forward with plans for a national database to track information about police use of force, Justice Department officials announced last week.
“We need to collect actual, accurate and complete information about policing in this country so that we have informed debates about things that matter enormously,” said.

Because the President of the united States, Hillary and the media take the approach that it is the fault of the police and not the perpetrator before they even know the facts – and when they do know the facts they still push the narrative that it is police brutality even though the statistics show that is not the case. They just want to still up dissention.
The bias Media Houses, Obama, Hillary, Al Sharpton, and Eric Holder started this RACIAL Conflict and it needs to end!! AMERICA was doing good until they stuck up for these THUGS that they said were innocent and WEREN’T!!
Why would you expect a black man to respect the policeman at a traffic stop, and, do what the policeman asks or request him to do when the percentages are that the black man has never had to respect or answer to anyone of authority in his whole life. More than likely growing up without a father he has probably only had his mother’s men acquaintances trying to order him around which he hated or disregarded and therefore has no respect for any type of authority , especially a white man in uniform. Would most of these black men getting shot by white
or any race police officers have happened if the black man would learn to respect the uniform and do what the person in that uniform wants them to do at a traffic stop even if they believe the officer is right or wrong still be alive. They can always file a complaint later if they are still alive. When I used to be a semi truck driver you had to watch for people in cars trying to cut you off or trying to cause a wreck with your semi in one way or another hoping for that million dollar lawsuit. This is what the Black man seems to be trying with the police officers. Of course it seems to work in some cases (which makes more and more try it) but they are not alive to see their family receiving the high dollar lawsuit.
The media just wants to keep doing stuff like this.
The media is so unreliable and misinformed, they continually tell half truths or nothing at all. What happened, is everyone who is a Democrat in the government owned by a bunch of Socialists who are more Communists than our country of Freedoms and a Constitution of Laws?
They should all be imprisoned. The news media is supposed to report the facts and and take an unbiased stance. They have become mere puppets of propaganda for the government and no longer have true reporters of the news. they do not investigate they only move their mouths and pens the way our government tells them. Obama wanted this country divided because he understands that if we are united he and the rest of the corrupt politicians are in for one hell of a ride. He continues to push for Marshall law and will continue to do so until Hillary has a secure seat. I believe their is an electric chair handy and I would be happy to plug it in for her. I know she is too lazy to do it herself and I would send her an email but I I am certain it would be deleted too.
