A Michigan police officer saved a newborn girl from choking. A dashcam has captured the scene.

Last Thursday, Officer Cameron Maciejewski pulled up to a home at around 10:45 p.m. The child’s family rushed to him with the 3-week-old child who was not breathing.

Reports say that the baby choked while drinking milk from her bottle.

According to The Daily Mail, the footage begins with the police cruiser racing towards the home with flashing lights.

“Hey what's going on with the baby?” Maciejewski asked.

Inaudible cries can be heard from the baby's mother as Maciejewski tried to get a handle on the situation.

“Okay, calm down calm down,” the Michigan police officer said. “Let me see the baby.”

Maciejewski is seen in the footage “taking the baby in his arms and, while remaining calm, performed back thrusts on the child and clearing her airway,” Fox News reported.

“Yep, there you go … She's got a pulse and she's breathing, okay?” he said.

The baby’s mother collapsed in tears after the child started crying.

According to police, Maciejewski spoke with paramedics before the baby was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

“If it wasn't for Ofc. Maciejewski's quick, calm, lifesaving actions, the outcome of this incident could have been tragically different,” Sterling Heights Police Department said. “Not only did the officer save the baby, but the officer did an outstanding job consoling the family.”
