The basketball community mourned the death of Kobe Bryant on Sunday, after the 41-year-old former Los Angeles Lakers star was killed in a helicopter crash near Calabasas, CA on his way to a travel basketball practice.

Eight other people were killed in the crash as well, and all eight have now been identified in the media. Here are their names and what we know about them.

Gianna Bryant – Bryant’s 13-year-old daughter and a star on her travel basketball team.

John, Keri and Alyssa Altobelli – John Altobelli was a successful JuCo baseball coach at Orange Coast College. His wife Keri and their 13-year-old daughter Alyssa were also on board. Alyssa played on Bryant’s travel team with Gianna.

Christina Mauser – Mauser was an assistant basketball coach at Harbor Day School in Orange County and a mother of three children with her husband Matt. Per NBC, Bryant asked Mauser to teach his team defense.

Sarah and Payton Chester – Sarah and her 13-year-old daughter Payton were on the flight as well. Per ABC, Payton attended St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano.

Ara Zobayan – Zobayan was the pilot. According to KTLA, he was qualified to fly a helicopter in Sunday’s challenging conditions. KTLA’s Christina Pascucci said Zobayan’s friends confirmed his death.

“He taught aspiring heli pilots to fly and was very much loved in the aviation community,” Pascucci wrote on Twitter. “They wrote ‘rest easy as you take your final flight to heaven.’”
