New iPhone: Rumored to Be Released in March 2020
A new low-cost iPhone is reportedly coming in March. According to predictions by publications and analysts, Apple will announce a new sub-$500 iPhone – which may be called either the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9.
Fast Company reported that one source believes that the new phone will likely sell at $399. “Analysts say Apple needs a lower-cost device to have a better chance of competing in the Indian market, which is huge but also accustomed to paying less than $200 for Android phones,” said the article.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is working on a new low-cost iPhone that is set to be released during the first half of 2020, perhaps in March 2020, with Apple aiming to bring up-to-date technology to customers at a lower price point. #app https://t.co/8FSqk2g3pE pic.twitter.com/7eL4yHvdn4

A lower-priced iPhone with the right components may encourage a whole group of people that previously could not afford an iPhone. “This may include younger people with less disposable income who may use cheaper Android phones and people who bought older iPhones on the used market,” Fast Company elaborated.
The new phone will likely rely on the components that Apple has been using for years, such as the fingerprint reader. The company will be able to cut costs by reusing a phone design – possibly one borrowed from the iPhone 8. The new phone is expected to have a 4.9-inch display.
According to Fast Company, “the main idea of the SE 2/iPhone 9 is not to bowl consumers over with premium features, but to pull them inside the big tent of the Apple ecosystem.”
