Hypocrite: Newsom Heads to Mexico after Extending California Covid-19 Lockdowns

In the last 18 months of COVID-19 lockdowns, many progressive politicians abused their emergency powers that were meant to protect their constituents. One of them is Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who recently went to Mexico right after extending his COVID-related executive orders.

However, instead of looking out for the well-being of their citizens, these people used their power to control the people while sometimes living arrogantly in violation of their own rules.

On Nov. 15, the California governor approved an executive order that extends the COVID-19 emergency rules that he originally approved in March 2020. These rules will now expire in March 2022.

A week following the approval of this extension in California, Newsom went to Mexico to go on vacation with his family. The California governor, along with his wife and kids, managed to escape the unnecessary mandates in the state and will not come back to California until Nov. 28.

Newsom’s administration has consistently kept California among the most strictly controlled states in the U.S., with many describing the experience as tyrannical. It was also the first state to require vaccines for every K-12 student in the state back in October.

Like many other politicians, such as U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Newsom has faced backlash in the past for not following his own COVID-19-related restrictions.

For example, he once went to a high-end dinner party that was hosted at the French Laundry in California. The party had more than a dozen people coming from different households and it happened in November 2020, which effectively makes it a violation of the state's pandemic-related rules at the time.

Instead of taking full responsibility for what he did, he admitted that he believes he’s above the law. Although, Newsom did say, “While our family followed the restaurant’s health protocols and took safety precautions, we should have modeled better behavior and not joined the dinner.”

Despite all of the California governor’s efforts, the state’s fight against COVID-19 seems to be failing miserably, especially when compared to states like Florida that stayed open.

Between Nov. 7 and Nov. 9, California saw an average of 16 new cases for every 100,000 people. This is high compared to Florida, with just 7.

His recent actions show that Newsom is more concerned with himself than the welfare of the 36 million residents in California.
