Obama Cost Another Job
- It is official Melania's speech was plagiarized and the writer, Meredith McIver, is taking the blame.
- Meredith is an avid fan of Michelle Obama, and apparently drew from her speech to get inspiration.
- She offered her resignation to Donald Trump who refused to accept it.
- Meredith has apologized for the confusing mistake and says she is honored to work with the Trump family.
A statement was released yesterday from Meredith McIver, a staff writer for the Trump Organization, stating that she takes full responsibility for the plagiarism accusations on Melania's speech.
For those of you who were unaware of the plagiarism allegations, Melania's speech at the RNC was found to mirror certain moments of Michelle Obama's speech back in the 2008 Democratic National Convention. Apparently, Meredith is an admirer of Michelle Obama. While working on Melania's speech, Meredith read over Michelle's speech for inspiration. She wrote down passages of her speech that inspired here, unfortunately, they later found their way into Melania's speech.
Meredith said, “I wrote them down and later included some of the phrasing in the draft that ultimately became the final speech. I did not check Mrs. Obama’s speeches. This was my mistake, and I feel terrible for the chaos I have caused Melania and the Trumps as well as to Mrs. Obama. No harm was meant.”
Meredith said that she offered her resignation to Donald Trump, after her embarrassing mistake. However, the Presidential nominee refused to accept it. Meredith said, “Mr. Trump told me that people make innocent mistakes and that we learn and grow from these experiences.”
She went on to say that she was greatly sorry for her mistake and is honored to work with the Trump family.
