Election 2016

Donald Trump Makes History

  • Yesterday Trump accepted the title of Republican Presidential Nominee.
  • In a whirlwind of a speech he had the audience chanting, “build that wall,” and “lock her up,” as he addressed the crowd.
  • He vowed to be the voice of the struggling families and to make America the number one priority once again.
  • At the end of the celebration Trump's daughter, Ivanka, came forward and said that her father, “will deliver.”

Winning is always a celebratory thing. The victory of the Republican Presidential Nominee is no different. The Republican National Convention makes sure that balloons fall from the heavens, showering the victor in brightly colored latex and confetti.

Yet, before Trump accepted his victorious title, he took a serious demeanor. He talked about the issues that plague the streets of America. He discussed the rise of the Islamic State, the recent almost gang-like violence towards police officers, illegal immigrants, and terrorist attacks.

“The irresponsible rhetoric of our president, who has used the pulpit of the presidency to divide us by race and color, has made America a more dangerous environment for everyone,” Trump said.

Last night, in a show of humble gratitude Donald Trump, accepted the title of Republican Presidential Nominee. He vowed that the United States “would be first once again.” He continued to say that he would be the voice for struggling families, the “law and order” commander and chief.

“The most basic duty of government is to defend the lives of its own citizens. Any government that fails to do so is a government unworthy to lead. It’s finally time for a straightforward assessment of the state of our nation,” Trump announced during his acceptance speech. “My sole and exclusive mission is to go to work for our country – to go to work for you. It’s time to deliver a victory for the American people. We don’t win anymore, but we’re going to start winning again.”

The biggest cheer of the night came after Trump declared to protect the LGBT community. He said, “This time, the terrorists targeted our LGBT community. As your President, I will do everything in my power to protect our LGBT citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology. As a Republican, it makes me feel really good to hear you cheering for what I just said.”

The acceptance speech wasn't your average boring political address, it was and interactive experience with the audience. People booing and cheering at all the right moments. As Trump began to talk about the immigration problem in America, the audience erupted in chants of “build that wall.” Chanting seemed to be an ongoing thing during Trump's address. The audience was also filled with chanting of “lock her up,” in reference to Hillary Clinton.

In a twist, Trump turned his television star political tactics into talks of economics, blaming the Obama Administration for the growing debt of $19 trillion.

Trump said, “Yet, what do we have to show for it? Our roads and bridges are falling apart, our airports are in Third World condition and 43 million Americans are on food stamps.”

Yet, of course, a Trump speech would not be complete without some backlash towards his favorite target, Hillary.

“After four years of Hillary Clinton, what do we have? ISIS has spread across the region and the world. Libya is in ruins, and our ambassador and his staff were left helpless to die at the hands of savage killers,” Trump said. ““This is the legacy of Hillary Clinton: death, destruction, and weakness. But Hillary Clinton’s legacy does not have to be America’s legacy. The problems we face now — poverty and violence at home, war, and destruction abroad — will last only as long as we continue relying on the same politicians who created them. A change in leadership is required to change these outcomes. Hillary Clinton’s message is that things will never change. My message is that things have to change — and they have to change right now. Every day I wake up determined to deliver for the people I have met all across this nation that have been neglected, ignored, and abandoned.”

It was clearly a good day for Trump, a victory is always an accomplishment in politics. As Trump's daughter Ivanka came up to address the audience yesterday she said, “When my father said he will make America great again, he will deliver.”

Let's see if Trump will deliver, all the things he has said.
