Obama Released Afghan Soldiers Into America
- In the past month, 8 Afghan soldiers have defected inside the United States.
- The United States has sent 2,200 Afghan troops into the US to be properly trained for the war.
- In the past two years, 44 of those soldiers have vanished inside America.
- The Obama Administration has yet to release these details due to the embarrassment of the program.
You might not have known this but Afghan troops travel to America to get military training. It's not known how many are sent each year but since 2007 over 2,200 Afghan troops have been trained in America. However, a problem is now starting to arise. In the past two years, 44 Afghan troops have vanished.
Pentagon officials believe that troops defect so they can work and live illegally inside the United States. If that's the case, government officials are starting to question the security and screening processes for the program.
This becomes an increasingly embarrassing situation for the Obama Administration. In an effort to extradite the US from the now 15-year war, Obama has spent billions of dollars to properly train Afghan troops. This just adds fuel to the Trump campaign's fire. Donald Trump has continuously accused the Obama Administration of improperly vetting immigrants from entering the country. With this new information, it seems as if he was right.
Not only have Pentagon officials said that foreign troops have, in the past, run away from training. Which raises an entirely different batch of questions. They have also expressed their concern because the frequency in which Afghan troops are disappearing is “out of the ordinary.”
Adam Stump, a Pentagon spokesperson, said that since September alone 8 soldiers have gone missing. That's one month. That means, 8 soldiers in one month, have just walked off military bases without anyone noticing?

The silver lining around this story is that, according to defense officials, there has been no evidence that the AWOL troops have committed or caused a threat to the United States. Yet, that also raises questions. How can you not keep track of immigrant soldiers on our soil, but yet be confident of their activities? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Trump's idea for squashing the immigrant problem is putting a ban on Muslim immigrants from entering the country. He believes that law enforcement officials should participate in racial profiling, as a way to counter illegal immigrants from harming US soil. Then after the massacre in Orlando, where a man, whose father was from Afghanistan, killed 49 people, Trump's immigration plan became clear. He stated that his ban should continue until the US can properly screen immigrants entering the country.
Now reports have surfaced that although the Afghan troops were here for military training, they were not always on a military base.
There have even been reports that one of the AWOL troops was detained in Canada trying to enter the country from the United States.
Some experts are contributing the desertion to low morale among the troops. Picture it. You are an Afghan troop going to fight the Taliban with poor training, and no real hope for survival. It makes sense why some of them would try to escape the war.
