Patriot Defense Weekly: Safeguarding Your Family From Rioters
With all the violent protests and rioting going on around the country, I decided that now was a great time to create a weekly article about protecting your life, your home, and your family.
I hope you haven’t had to suffer through a night of loud and violent protests in your neighborhood, and if you have then my words will resonate with you on an even deeper level, you need to be prepared.
First things first, whenever the riots begin, call the police and do everything in your power to get them to your neighborhood. Unfortunately, as we all know, the police can't always be relied on. Therefore, it falls on us to protect our homes and neighborhoods ourselves.
The very first thing that all responsible patriots should do is go out and buy a firearm for home defense. I’ll link some great articles below on picking one that is right for your needs, but it is simply the only way to truly protect your family and property.
The Best Handguns For Home Defense
Top Five Survival Guns
Pick a firearm that fits your needs and desires. Take the weapon to the range and make sure you know how to use it well. The last thing you want is to be loading your firearm for the first time when rioters are right out your door.
Naturally, take your family and home into account when purchasing a firearm, if you have children in the home or live in a particularly dodgy neighborhood then it is probably a good idea to invest in a gun safe or, at the very least, trigger locks.

Now, If you do think your neighborhood is at risk or you just don’t want to be unprepared for the unexpected than I suggest you build a strong fence around your property. Chainlink is better than nothing, but preferably steel bars or concrete. Something that can’t be ripped down or easily cut through.
Most rioters aren’t looking for a lot of hard work and will pass over your house for an easier target if it looks to be too tough or would take too much of their time.
I also highly recommend that you always have at least a weeks worth of non-perishable food in your home. You simply don't know how long the chaos will last and you don't know when you will be able to leave and run to the store. This is also a great tip that will protect your family from any disasters that you may not see coming. And as always, more is better when it comes to prepping.
The final tip for this installment is to organize your neighborhood. This isn’t always doable and it may even be all of your neighbors who have turned against you. I hope not. Ideally, you will already have a neighborhood watch set up, in which case it should be a priority to create a plan for what to do if rioters or looters show up in your neighborhood.
This is important for anytime things turn ugly and can be needed to safeguard your families from protesters during civil unrest or from looters in the event of a disaster and anything in between. You neighbors are your best defense and you there's.
You can certainly keep a few rioters at bay by yourself with a visibly displayed firearm and a clear vocal intent to use it if needed, but the greater the numbers against you the less likely they are to be intimidated. However, every extra person with a firearm, training, and intent that you can add to your side will yield exponential results at holding off larger crowds.
Just look at the Rodney King riots in LA. When they the rioters got to the Korean part of town they hit a wall and were forced to stop. The LA police didn’t care about the Korean neighborhoods and pulled the police line to the other side. Despite the lack of aid, the Korean business owners weren't ready to watch all that they had worked hard for go up in flames.
They banded together and with pistols and rifles they stood out front of their doors and on their roofs and kept a crowd of thousands at bay. Truly a remarkable thing to see and a lesson of what a few neighbors can accomplish when they unite for a shared purpose and defense.
That’s all that I’ll go over today, but be sure to comment below if you have any suggestions or questions and we’ll do our best to include them next time. Also below are some helpful links for surviving urban chaos.
