House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has announced that the House will invoke the 25th Amendment which will give Congress certain power “to evaluate the health and stability of the president to conduct the duties of the office, and create a Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of Office,” explained The Guardian.

Fox News reported that the commission would allow Congress to oust a president from office.

“This is not about President Trump,” Pelosi said on Friday. “He will face the judgment of the voters. But he shows the need for us to create a process for future presidents.”

The House Speaker also denied that the timing had anything to do with the upcoming election, arguing that a commission on presidential capacity is necessary to “give some comfort to people.”

USA Today explained that the 25th Amendment, ratified in 1967, “lays out a legal mechanism for designating a head of state if the president is disabled or dead and also formalized the line of succession for the vice president to take over if the president dies or resigns.”

According to Fox News, Trump then fired back and said Pelosi’s effort aims to remove Joe Biden.

“Crazy Nancy Pelosi is looking at the 25th Amendment in order to replace Joe Biden with Kamala Harris,” Trump tweeted. “The Dems want that to happen fast because Sleepy Joe is out of it!!!”
