According to several reports, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) searched Mike Pence's Indiana residence on Friday in an effort to find additional classified materials.

According to a spokesman who spoke to CNN, the former vice president is currently on the West Coast with his family following the birth of his daughter. The spokesperson added that Pence's private attorney is also present at his Indiana home at the time the search is being conducted. Additionally, it is said that Pence's office in Washington, DC, will be searched in the near future.
The private search of his home came after law enforcement agencies have recently increased scrutiny of how government officials handle classified material. This comes after the former vice president voluntarily provided classified documents to federal authorities that he discovered at his Indiana home last month after the discovered documents were “inadvertently packed up and transported, and Mr. Pence was unaware of their existence.”

The FBI and the Justice Department's National Security Division have since conducted a “review of the documents and how they ended up in Pence's house,” according to CNN. The documents' subject matter, level of sensitivity, or classification are not yet known.

Pence already accepted responsibility for the confidential materials winding up at his house and recognized that “mistakes were made” with them. Additionally, he promised to “completely comply” with any FBI inquiries. According to a source close to Pence, who last week spoke with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle, the former vice president and his team will abide by all relevant laws and have spoken with the FBI about the prospect of setting up more searches.

After numerous reports revealed that between 20 and 25 documents were discovered in Biden's vice presidential office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C., as well as other locations like his home in Delaware, Vice President Mike Pence voluntarily looked at and turned over classified documents to federal authorities, drawing him into the same scandal roiling around President Joe Biden. Federal agents have recently searched Biden's two Delaware homes after the documents were found.

The former president Donald Trump's Florida mansion, Mar-A-Lago, was raided by FBI investigators last summer, which coincided with Pence and Biden's document releases. The former president may have taken sensitive documents out of the White House when he moved out, so the FBI searched his home for those items. Agents reportedly searched Melania Trump's bedroom and closets during the search. Over 50 empty files were among the seized items the FBI took after the operation.
