Police Say FedEx Gunman Shot 8 Before Committing Suicide

On Friday, Police identified the suspected gunman of a shooting that killed eight people at a FedEx facility late Thursday night. However, they are still looking for a motive and are working to identify the victims.

Law enforcement responded to the FedEx Ground facility located in Indianapolis’ southwest side right after 11 p.m. local time. They came after receiving reports of shots fired at a business. They encountered a chaotic crime scene following a gunman open-firing randomly both inside and outside the building, as per Indianapolis Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt.

During a press conference late Friday, McCartt identified the FedEx gunman as Brandon Scott Hole, 19. He also mentioned that FedEx officials had confirmed that the gunman was a former employee. Hole last worked at the facility in 2020. Currently, his motive remains unknown.

Four individuals died outside the facility while four others died inside. Several other people have suffered injuries. The police also believed that the gunman died by suicide.

As per McCartt, they are still identifying the victims. Also, the coroner continues to notify the family of the victims as of Friday afternoon.

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett on Friday said that the “eyes of the nation” are on the city in ways that they “never have hoped for.”
