A shooting on Wednesday night at an office building in Orange, California left four people dead, including a 9-year-old boy. This has been the third mass shooting in the country in three weeks.
According to the police, the suspect knew his victims. The gunman locked the gateways into the said office building in Orange prior to opening fire. Authorities have found the victims in different areas in the building, including the boy, whom they found in the arms of a woman they believe is his mother.
Orange, California Incident Is the Third Shooting in the Country in Three Weeks
This massacre is the third mass shootings that rocked the country in just three weeks, which came after a decrease in similar attacks amid the pandemic. This incident happened just a week after a shooting at a Boulder, Colorado grocery store that killed 10 people. A week prior to that, a gunman in the Atlanta area murdered eight people.
The Orange Police Department started receiving calls about the shooting at around 5:30 p.m. PT. When they arrived on the scene, the entryway entrances to a gated courtyard had been locked using bicycle cable locks. These prevented the authorities from immediately entering the building while they could still hear gunshots.
From outside the gate, the police opened fire at the gunman. While this went down, they got a hold of a bolt cutter to break the locks and let officers access the building.
After scouring the area, they found the gunman with a gunshot wound. The perpetrator was brought to a local hospital and was in critical but stable condition.
It is still unknown whether the gunman’s wounds were self-inflicted or not.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Aminadab Gaxiola Gonzales. He allegedly knew all the victims, and the boy who died was the son of one of the victims.
Four people were killed – one man, two women and a boy. Another woman, who is believed to be the boy’s mother, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities found a semi-automatic handgun while searching the scene. They also found a bag that contains pepper spray, ammunition, and handcuffs.
