Pope Francis is Telling Christians Not Convert Nonbelievers
A student asked the pope how a Christian should treat people of other faiths or no faith, and he said, “we are all the same, all children of God,” adding that true disciples of Jesus do not attempt to convert someone.
“There is a mixture of blood, a strong miscegenation in Argentina — I am the son of a migrant — and this made for a culture of coexistence. I went to public school and we always had companions from other religions. We were educated to coexistence,” the pope said. He added that the experience taught him that we are all the same – “all children of God and this purifies your gaze, it humanizes it.”
Pope Francis said a Christian should never try to convince others of the truth of Christianity – a Christian must simply “give a testimony of consistency and wait for others to ask about the faith,” said Breitbart. “The last thing I should do is to try to convince an unbeliever. Never,” he said.
“If someone says he is a disciple of Jesus and comes to you with proselytism, he is not a disciple of Jesus. Proselytism is not the way; the Church does not grow by proselytism,” he added.

I agree. God may have created us and all other things. However, we are not heirs of His kingdom unless we are saved. We must believe and accept Christ as our Saviour in order to become a child of God.
Father, forgive them for they know not what they say! What do you suppose the Word of God means when it says “Go ye and preach the Gospel?” I think that the Pope needs to go back to Catechism, again!
Exactly. Thank you, Catholics and Christians are 2 Diffenrent Religions. christians Don’t Interperate The words of GOD or Jesus Christ. Catholics Are Brain washed, to Pray to a Dead Women and speak to a Human to ask for Forgiveness. Christian Are indeed taught to accept every Man as a Bother and all Women Not Betrothed to them as Sisters. Juses Christ Did Indeed State Go Forth and Spread The Words of GOD. He didn’t state Gor forth and Kill those who Don’t Convert, as The Catholic Church has condonded. Hence the Damn near Wipe out of All Naitive tribes of what’s now know as the Americas.

I’m not Catholic so don’t think I’m defending what the Pope said, but if you truly read what he said, you will realize he is correct. Jesus never said go out and convert non-believers, he said, “Spread the Good News, Spread the Gospel”! It isn’t our job to convert anyone, that is God’s job, our job is to plant the seed of truth and try our best to live like Jesus did, hoping others will see the Love Jesus had for us and want the same outlook and peace that we have. Beating someone up to convert them only drives them away!
we cannot covert anyone. People need to convert themselves. They need the information to make an informed choice. The last words of Jesus before going to heaven is recorded for us in Matthew 28:19 “Go, therefore, made disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” or as some Bible translations say “until the end of time”. The Pope does not teach the truth about God, Jesus Christ or the truth of the Bible.
Well, I am a Catholic. Pope Francis is historically and theologically ignorant (this is not merely my opinion, but is well documented) and as a result he is a constant embarrassment to the Church. He holds many opinions that are formally heretical (such as the one described here, among many others), and he panders to the global-elites in order to be liked by them. He treats works of FICTION as though they represented historical facts. Yes, the Church has always been full of sinners, and the pope is no exception (no pope ever was–nor ever claimed to be–without sin). This should not surprise anyone. In the Catholic seminary, and later as a priest and bishop, he hated philosophy and theology and never bothered to pay attention to those areas of study. Now, as pope, he still despises both theology and canon law because he refuses to follow any “rules” he doesn’t like, and he doesn’t like anyone telling him that certain things are ALWAYS TRUE and cannot change (e.g. that homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered always sinful), and certain other things are FALSE and must be identified as such, and that there are certain “rules” that even he MUST follow. He is a sloppy and careless thinker who hates discipline of any kind. Even his grammar is sloppy, ambiguous, often incoherent! He believes whatever is fashionable (e.g. “Climate Change” alarmism) but without understanding any of it (never bothering to learn the FACTS). He famously once said “Who am I to judge?”. He is correct there, but as pope it is not his job to “judge” anyone, but rather to TEACH EVERYONE, and this he refuses to do! He is both ignorant and lazy (though he never tires of driving his political agenda) and he will have MUCH to answer for when he finally stands before his Lord and Judge. Every day I pray for him–AND for his successor (whoever it will be) who will have the extremely difficult and unpleasant task of CLEANING UP THE MESS OF ERROR AND CONFUSION that Pope Francis has created.
