  • Ted Cruz's campaign pulled a Rubio attack add after it was revealed that an actress in the video was a former soft-core porn star.
  • The add was about a “conservatives Anonymous” group that had been lied to by Rubio.
  • The actress released a series of critical tweets and was “extreamely disappointed” that the campaign pulled it.

(CNN) Ted Cruz's campaign pulled a recent ad attacking Marco Rubio after it was revealed that one of its featured actors had performed in erotic films.

Titled “Conservatives Anonymous,” the Cruz spot is set in a group therapy session, as a circle of men and women discuss their disappointment in having supported the Florida senator given his subsequent work on an immigration reform bill one calls “amnesty.”

“Maybe you should vote for more than just a pretty face next time,” softcore porn veteran Amy Lindsay tells the group before another man appears at the door in a Rubio shirt asking, “You guys have room for one more?”

The campaign removed the video from YouTube after it became aware of her background, though a web page with the “Conservatives Anonymous” branding is still live on Cruz's site.

The Cruz campaign did not immediately respond to CNN request for comment.

On Thursday night and early Friday, Lindsay responded to the decision in a series of critical tweets and on Instagram, writing that she was “Extremely disappointed the #TedCruz campaign pulled the national television spot I had a role in.”

“The actress responded to an open casting call,” Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler told BuzzFeed, which first reported on Lindsay's past work. “She passed her audition and got the job. Unfortunately, she was not vetted by the production company. Had the campaign known of her full filmography, we obviously would not have let her appear in the ad.”

According to her IMDb page, Lindsay has credited roles in titles including “Carnal Wishes,” “Insatiable Desires” and “Forbidden Sins.” She has also appeared in more mainstream fare, like a 2001 episode of “Star Trek: Voyager.”

  • David says:

Ted Cruz did not hire a porn star. His campaign did hire a company to produce a political add and that company failed to fully vet that person. Bet that won’t happen again!

  • Jim says:

Cruz didn’t hire anybody . The production crew did . And , so what , the woman may be trying to do better for her life . So STOP WITH THE SMEAR CAMPAIGNS !

  • Rabelrouser says:

I guess the fact that she has accepted Christ as her Savior, and turned (Repented) from her past has no bearing on how she should be treated?
I am sure if that Fact was widely published, it would have acted as a great counter to the MSM / Political slander / attack machine.
If Christ Jesus can forgive and wants the individual to change, why can not man do the same?

Let us just consider that the “supposed porn star” may not be everyone’s idea of a perfect woman but if she was in fact a porn star, she at least was working and not living onYOUR tax dollars. I am sure that there are plenty of hypocrites on these sites that have a lot of things they would like to forget about in their past.

  • Jan Williams says:

This is old Non-News. Do you want to know what is disappointing ? I have followed this site and have been well aware of “Absolute Rights” slant to discriminatory reporting when it comes to Sen. Ted Cruz and others. Why run this site like a trash rag ? It seems obvious that you have an agenda other then encouraging discussion about real issues and the Constitution.

    she should not be dissceimenated

Perfect example of the Truth about Christians. They preach and rail about forgiveness and redemption, and when the come up on a person who is attempting to change, to make their life better, what happens, the Christians become disgusted, and persecute the person. No one would have known anything about this woman, unless of course some one of the Christian faith who frequents and watches her videos recognized her. The most hateful things I have ever seen done by human beings, for the most part has come from these so called Christians.

Would Jesus not forgive her, and what makes you better than Jesus?

  • David McCormick says:

Actors act. At least she works for a living acting, it does not matter what she acted in the past. She is a voting member of society.

  • Mnm says:

So effing what. Stop attacking women and being a hypocritical Turdbag. She had not done anything illegal. So sick of the edged up puritanical bs some people still clings to in this country.
Look at how many sex scandals come up in the political realm

  • james Gilbertson says:

Hired by sub contractors that probably had bad intentions

  • Floyd says:

    Dirty politics

  • Martha Tucker says:

Any thing can happen in such a time as this. Wh knows some of te other candidates could have very easily slip her in the crowd. Cruz needs to pay more attention on who fgets in there. Course he is busy making speeches. The people in charge sould have paid more attention to wbo all is in the group.

    • johnw1120 says:

Just explain how Cruz or any other candidate has time to oversee everyone who has some kind of association to their campaign, it sounds good but is not anywhere near practical. Cruz opponents, the media and the left will play this and twist it to the max because Cruz is running high in the polls, the question will remain, are the people smart enough to see thru the BS or will they be suckered in to the trap?

  • DUKE says:

This is just more of the political crap that makes us all despise political crap. This young woman answered a casting call, auditioned, and won the part in the commercial, just as others did. That’s it. Period.

Everyone who appears in every ad everywhere for every type of promotion (person or product or service) does not have to go through a vetting process on their past, their morals, or any other personal history / traits / beliefs. It’s irevalent. It has nothing to do with the product (in this case the product is a person — a political candidate) being promoted by the commercial.

If the ad itself is clean, non-pornographic, civil, and passes FCC rules allowing it to air on TV, then it is okay. Whether one likes the ad or the subject material is strictly personal taste. No one likes everything; and not everything is liked by everyone. Chill out everyone. Let Ted Cruz run his ads, and let this woman earn her living in her profession as an actress.

  • Gene Rodgers says:

Cruz’s team was just being “an equal opportunity employer”. There have been worse in thje Democratic side and nothing has been said or done. There is a KluKlux member of Congress and other such low life in the democratic camp.

  • george nases sr says:

they know what they were doing.

  • Juanita says:

IF it were true, it wouldn’t be knowingly!! Another liberal or Establishment attack????

  • Fuzzy says:

I believe Ted Cruz to be an honest person, unlike Trump who could’ve had her do the interview & tryout! Why do I say that, because I wouldn’t put that type of dirty low trick past Trump, or anyone in his entourage for that matter!

  • Sam Fletcher says:

Well, my first thought is “I wonder who it was who recognized the actress as being a porn movie actress!! Inquiring minds need to know. Might be all that is actually required to put cold water on this crapola!!

  • Steve says:

Ted will do anything and say anything to get into the white house. The fact that he is in a pocket is enough to tell our group we don’t need him…
