People today are afraid. The street word on the street is that we are headed for a ‘reset’. What does this really mean, and what will it change?

How Will You Reset Our World?

The world has already been reset… more than once. We just don’t realize it. A reset usually means a change by bringing things back to zero.

Very much like rebooting your computer, etc… It suggests wiping out whatever is currently happening in order to bring in a new program or understanding. A process to stabilize everything and create a standard code for doing things.

It sounds bad because it requires change, but most of us get comfortable the way things are. That is primarily why we resent any idea of a reset.

Possibly one of the biggest resets of our time has come about due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Lockdowns, domestic confinement, wearing masks, social distancing, closure of businesses, cessation of services, restrictions on normal activities, and workplace freedom.

All ushering in a new and unexpected era of change. But should we be afraid? Truth be told, no one wants anything to change because we are too comfortable with the way it is.

A true reset can only come about if it affects everyone at the same time. Probably one of the most notable events in our history that made such a difference and forced things to change for everyone would have to be World War 1, around one hundred years ago.

Also known at that time as The Great War because people couldn’t imagine another one ever being like it. Shortly after it, the Spanish Flu of 1918 broke out. Shocking as it was with over fifty million deaths worldwide, it had forced some things to change. Permanently.

The global industry had improved, motor vehicles started popping up in every country, and horses and blacksmiths took backstage. Aviation became a reality.

Then came the World Depression in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Millions out of work and economies crashing all around. Shortly after another war started.

At least seventy-five million people perished in that Second World War, which was 73% more than the previous war. Other conflicts worthy of mention are Korea, the race to the Moon, Vietnam, the Gulf War, the war against terror (911), Covid-19, and of course, the insurrection on democracy by attacking Washington’s Capitol on the 6th January 2021 – which is in effect, another reset button.

As a result, humans are now seeking ways of improving the quality of life and looking at better ways of doing things.

Sourcing new energy, becoming more conscious of the environment, climate, travel, work, and how we basically treat one another. Respect and equality. All of which have somehow pressed the ‘reset’ button on our society, and will change the way we live, forever.

Pioneers such as Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and others are carving out roads into the future with their superhighway tech thinking. Robots are about to enter our presence in a big way, leading to driverless vehicles, whether on the ground, in the water, in the sky, or in space. There is so much on Future’s agenda.

The key to taming the animal called ‘F.E.A.R.’ is to know who you are. Write down a list of things that concern you. Give each item on your list a value of one to ten, with one being the least and ten being the greatest fear. After all, what that acronym really stands for is – False Evidence Appearing Real. Nothing changes if nothing changes.
