The Republican National Committee (RNC) announced on Wednesday the dates of the 2024 Republican National Convention. The event will be held from July 15 to 18, 2024, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, Milwaukee 2024 Committee Chair Reince Priebus, and Milwaukee mayor Cavalier Johnson announced via a joint press release that the GOP convention will take place on July 15 to 18, 2024
The Republican National Convention will feature remarks from important party officials as well as the formal announcement of the Republican presidential ticket for the 2024 election. As of this writing, only former President Donald Trump has officially declared his candidacy.
In a statement, McDaniel said, “We are excited to announce July 15-18, 2024 as the week Republicans will select our nominee to be the next president of the United States. We look forward to our continued work with the beautiful city of Milwaukee to make this convention week a success. Republicans will stand united in Milwaukee in 2024 to share our message of freedom and opportunity with the world.”
“The location is set, the dates are booked, and now the work of pulling off the biggest event in politics is underway. With partners like the RNC and the city of Milwaukee, we are confident the RNC Convention will be the gold standard for decades to come,” Priebus stated.
The Democrats had planned to have their 2020 convention in Milwaukee, but they chose to hold much of the event remotely owing to fears about the Chinese coronavirus outbreak.
“We are thrilled to welcome the 2024 Republican National Convention to Milwaukee,” the Milwaukee mayor went on to say. “Our city is ready to show the world we are open for business, conventions, and tourism. The presidential nomination convention is a historical opportunity to present what a phenomenal place Milwaukee truly is.”
Wisconsin is always a significant swing state and will certainly be again in 2024. Nashville, Tennessee, was one of the alternative locations considered by the RNC for the 2024 convention.
A ceremony commemorating the convention is planned to occur during the January RNC Winter Meeting in California. In addition, the RNC chair will be elected in January. McDaniel is running for reelection, and Harmeet Dhillon, the National Committeewoman, has emerged as her major opponent.
