Prominent political consultant Roger Stone said Republican Representative Matt Gaetz should run for president if former President Donald Trump decides to not run again in 2024.

Stone spoke with Russia Today host Steve Malzberg. In the interview, he said that Gaetz may be a good candidate to run in the 2024 presidential elections if Trump doesn’t want to do so again.

Stone said that Trump “seems to be teasing” as to whether he would run again. If he does, Stone stated that “he can count on me.”

The political consultant says he “will be there” if Trump runs.

He then added that should Trump decide not to run, those who share the former president’s “America First agenda” need to look for a backup. He said they need a person who can come out victorious while having a similar platform as Trump’s.

According to Stone, the perfect person for this is Gaetz.

There are still more than three years until the 2024 election, but many are already trying to analyze who may run and who may win in the GOP.

For many, without a doubt, Trump would win the Republican nomination.

A recent Washington Times/CPAC poll showed that the former president is still the favorite to win the Republican nomination for 2024 by a huge margin. Additionally, over 95% of the respondents approve of how Trump ran his administration.
