Sen. Marco Rubio reached out to help Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists move to Cuba following the posting of a message by the organization. In it, the BLM organization seems to side with Cuba’s communist regime instead of the protesters wanting their freedom.

Rubio posted a tweet on Thursday, saying: “My office stands ready to help the leaders of the Black Lives Matter organization emigrate to #Cuba.”

On Wednesday, BLM released a statement that condemned the U.S. for the embargo it has placed against the island nation. It also seemed to blame the U.S. for the unrest happening in Cuba’s streets that has resulted in at least one death.

A number of GOP lawmakers, including Rubio, had an issue with the said statement of the BLM organization about Cuba. They argued that BLM was siding with communism instead of the U.S.

In a statement posted on social media, Rubio added: “The extortionist ring known as the Black Lives Matter organization took a break today from shaking down corporations for millions & buying themselves mansions to share their support for the Communist regime in #Cuba.”

The protests happening in Cuba have continued for multiple days. Many people attended to express their frustration regarding the way of living in Cuba as they clash with government forces.

In a statement earlier this week, President Biden said that the U.S. “stands firmly” with the citizens of Cuba. He also called on the government of the island nation to listen to the people and “serve their needs at this vital moment.”
