Insanity: San Francisco Now Requires 5-Year-Olds to Show Vaccination Cards
Kids as young as 5 years old will spoon need to show proof that they’ve been vaccinated against COVID-19 in San Francisco so that they can be admitted into a lot of indoor venues and establishments, according to a report by SFGate/
The city is already requiring vaccination proof for children 12 years and older.
However, now, with vaccinations approved for those between 5 to 11 years old, the mandate will soon be enforced on younger children, as well.
“We definitely want to wait and make sure that children have an opportunity to get vaccinated,” Dr. Susan Philip, the city health officer, stated. She added, “That will happen no sooner than about eight weeks after the vaccine is available to kids.”
“So there will be a limited time in which there will not be those requirements, but then at some point, 5- to 11-year-olds will also have to show proof of vaccination to access some of those same settings,” she went on to say.
According to Politico, the vaccinations on younger children started on Wednesday in the state of California. The jabs used for younger kids are only one-third of the dose used on adults. It’s given in two doses, 21 days apart.
“As with children 12-17 who may not have personal identification, we will follow the same approach with the younger kids such that they would not be penalized for not having an ID,” said a spokesperson for the health department.
