Shanghai Disneyland Reopens; Follows Precautions

Shanghai Disneyland, which closed on January 25th, has reopened on Monday. The park will limit the number of visitors and will keep some attractions closed to follow social distancing guidelines.

“We hope that today’s reopening serves as a beacon of light across the globe,” said Joe Schott, the president of Shanghai Disney Resort. He also said that they hope to provide “hope and inspiration to everyone,”

China was the first economy to shut down and first to reopen. This happened “after the ruling party declared the disease under control in early March,” reported Fox Business. While factories and shops have reopened, cinemas, karaoke parlors, gyms, and other businesses remain closed.

Park guests’ temperatures were checked at the gate. There were also decals on sidewalks. Also, there were markers for each attraction line to guide visitors on where to stand to maintain a safe distance. The establishment only allows one group of visitors per car, particularly on rides to keep strangers separated.

Visitors must also “make advance reservations, show government-issued identification and download a smartphone app issued by the Shanghai city government,” according to Fox Business. The app will be able to track their health. It can also track their interactions with anyone who may have been exposed to the coronavirus.

“For Shanghai Disney Resort, while this is a key step in our phased reopening, there are many more milestones to come for us and our sister parks around the world,” said Schott.
