Ted Cruz Slams Biden For Rejoining Paris Climate Agreement
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) echoed former President Donald Trump’s sentiments regarding an America-centric climate as President Joe Biden decided to rejoin the Paris agreement on his first day as the leader of the United States.
In a tweet posted on Wednesday, Cruz stated that by rejoining the climate accord, Biden shows that he finds the views of Paris citizens more important than the jobs of people in Pittsburgh.
By rejoining the Paris Climate Agreement, President Biden indicates he’s more interested in the views of the citizens of Paris than in the jobs of the citizens of Pittsburgh. This agreement will do little to affect the climate and will harm the livelihoods of Americans.

In 2017, Trump withdrew the US from the agreement. The then-president remarked that he was elected to represent the people of Pittsburgh and not those of Paris.
The former president also said that the country is at a disadvantage while being part of the accord. Trump was planning to loosen the restrictions for producers of domestic oil, gas, and coal.
Cruz’s tweet was criticized by many on Twitter. A lot of users pointed out that many nations are part of the Paris agreement, not just France.
There are 198 countries that made a commitment to the agreement. All these countries simply agreed upon doing their part to make sure the increase in average temperatures remains below 2°C or 3.6°F.
However, Cruz was not the only one to criticize Biden rejoining the Paris agreement. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) also had her reservations. She says it will cost many Americans to lose their jobs. She also surmised that it may force people to pay higher utility bills.
Apart from this, just a few moments after the president signed the executive order regarding the accord, a group of GOP senators already asked him to submit his plan to Congress for “review and consideration.”
