Former US President Donald Trump has formally established “The Office of the Former President” in South Florida. This provides him a platform to continue the Trump administration’s agenda “through advocacy and organizing.”
A statement announcing the creation of the office was also released. It says, “Today, the 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, formally opened the Office of the Former President.”
It also says: “President Trump will always and forever be a champion for the American people.”
This announcement comes after members of the Democratic party in the lower chamber of Congress sent the articles of Trump’s impeachment to the Senate on Monday. GOP Senators, however, have stopped criticizing Trump’s role in the Capitol siege. Additionally, they have started shooting down calls to convict the former President for the supposed role he played during the mobbing of the Capitol, as per Fox News.
Prosecutors from the House of representatives sent the article of impeachment to the Senate. However, Republicans denouncing trump for the said event have since cooled down. They are also presenting legal arguments that try to shoot down the legality of the trial.
Arguments for the impeachment trial in the senate will start in the week of Feb. 8.
