Trump Request for National Guard to Protect Americans from ‘Smash-and-Grab’ Robberies

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump called for the National Guard to be deployed to beat the increase of “smash-and-grab” robberies in the United States.

Upscale department stores located within and around Los Angeles and San Francisco have been recently looted by mobs that destroyed windows, beat up and used pepper spray on employees, and stole products worth up to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This trend has been observed at other department stores and even small businesses from across the country.

In a statement, Trump said, “If Democrats don't immediately stop smash-and-grab robberies, which are taking place in their cities, the National Guard must be called out.”

He added, “There has never been such a thing that has happened in our Country. Large numbers of stores are leaving San Francisco and other cities. Some chains are closing most of their stores, it is all not even believable.”

Last week, California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) ordered California Highway Patrol to bump up their presence on freeways next to busy shopping centers in the state and to make stops there in an effort to stop the robberies.

“The level of organized retail theft we are seeing is simply unacceptable,” the governor said in a statement.

“Businesses and customers should feel safe while doing their holiday shopping. That's why California is substantially increasing CHP’s presence, especially near retail areas, and will be investing even more to aggressively curb retail crime. As a small business owner myself, I am resolved to holding these criminals accountable and protecting our local businesses,” Newsom went on to say.

Even with the increase in adverse conditions, including rising inflation, that are being seen under Pres. Joe Biden’s administration, on Thanksgiving Day, Trump issued a statement that was optimistic about the future of the U.S.

“A very interesting time in our Country, but do not worry, we will be great again — and we will all do it together. America will never fail, and we will never allow it to go in the wrong direction. Too many generations of greatness are counting on us,” he said.
