Trump’s Reelection Campaign Drops Lawsuit Challenging Voting Results in Michigan
On Thursday, President Trump's reelection campaign has said that it is dropping a lawsuit challenging voting results in Michigan. The results show Joe Biden narrowly carrying the state.
“This morning we are withdrawing our lawsuit in Michigan,” said Rudy Giuliani, Trump's personal attorney.
According to Giuliani, the decision to withdraw the lawsuit is the “direct result of achieving the relief we sought: to stop the election in Wayne County from being prematurely certified before residents can be assured that every legal vote has been counted and every illegal vote has not been counted.”
Fox News then explained that the Trump campaign's lawsuit attempted to stop Wayne County “from certifying its election results, alleging that thousands of invalid ballots were counted by election workers.”
CNBC reported that David Fink, a lawyer for the city of Detroit in the lawsuit, said: “They can put whatever spin they want on it. They dismissed the case because they were going to lose.”
“The so-called rescission of those votes has absolutely no legal significance,” Fink also stated. “The canvassing board made its decision and the votes will now be reviewed by the state canvassing board.”
