Top VP Adviser Resigns as Kamala Office Turmoil Continues
Symone Sanders, one of Vice President Kamala Harris’ senior advisers and her chief spokesperson, is scheduled to step down at the end of the year. This seems to be a sign of the increasing turmoil within Harris’ office.
Sanders becomes the second top Harris aide to reveal her resignation in under a month. Two weeks ago, the vice president’s communications director, Ashley Etienne, has tendered her resignation. Harris has been riddled with abysmal approval ratings, and Republican critics also question her competence.
According to a White House official, as reported by Fox News, Sanders worked “honorably” for three years. She first became an important member of Biden’s 2020 campaign, then became a part of his transition team. Now, she serves as deputy assistant to the President as well as a senior adviser and chief spokesperson for Harris.
According to Fox News, the White House also said that Biden and Harris “are grateful for Symone’s service and advocacy” that she “will be missed.”
Sanders, who relocated to D.C. in 2014, was hired by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) as the national press secretary during his presidential campaign back in 2016.
Sanders also used to be the chair of the Coalition for Juvenile Justing Emergency Leaders Committee. She was also a part of the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice
