On Tuesday, a group of undocumented immigrants managed to break into a Texas ranch house close to the border. The said group stole firearms and ammunition, among other items, according to the authorities.

Big Bend Sector Border Patrol agents responded to a reported burglary at the said ranch house found in Sierra Blanca, Hudspeth County. There, authorities encountered three undocumented migrants who were armed, per a Customs and Border Protection news release.

Sierra Blanca is found around 20 miles to the northeast of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Border agents managed to search the three migrants. They discovered two loaded handguns, ammo, food, and clothing that they have stolen from the ranch house, according to the CBP.

Officials released images showing what appears to be three men, two of whom are brandishing handguns.

Chief Patrol Agent Sean L. McGoffin of Big Bend Sector said that, thanks to extensive training, Border Patrol agents came always prepared and ready to respond to many different scenarios. He added that without hesitation, agents went to the ranch house and “safely secured the location, the stolen weapons and the undocumented non-citizens.”

Authorities from the Hudspeth Country Sheriff’s Office took the three migrants into custody for further investigation. The three may also face state charges for their trespassing and for stealing property.

Arrests of Illegal Immigrants Near the Border in Texas Surges

McGoffin also said that if weapons go into the wrong hands, the situation at the ranch house could have become violent. Fortunately, the agents managed to control the situation and managed to find a peaceful resolution to it.

This year, along with the influx of migrants, arrests near the southern border of the country have also surged. The border has also recently witnessed its highest monthly arrest averages in two decades. Many Republicans blame President Joe Biden’s immigration policies for the uncontrolled influx.

According to the CBP, agents have encountered almost 930,000 illegal immigrants at the southern border since January.

In May alone, they have encountered 180,000 of these undocumented aliens.
