Wilmington Activists Accused of Vandalizing Trump 2020 Billboard

Oct. 21–Four Wilmington activists have been charged with allegedly damaging a downtown “Wilmington for Trump 2020” billboard earlier this month.

Nicole Nichelle Nelson, 33, who also goes by Lily Nicole, Joshua Gordon Zieseniss, 21, Marion Timothy Joyner, 34, and James Earl Frazier, 27, were taken into custody Tuesday morning after turning themselves in, said Jessica Williams, a spokesperson for the Wilmington Police Department.

The four are associated with the lowercase leaders — an activist group that participated in local protests earlier this year following the death of George Floyd.

The lowercase leaders website lists Joyner as the group's president, Zieseniss as the director of digital media and Nelson as madam chair.

Nelson, Zieseniss, Joyner and Frazier have all been charged with injury to real property. In addition, Frazier has been charged with two counts of injury to personal property and one count of trespassing.

The four are accused of damaging the Trump billboard, located along North Third Street, in the overnight hours of Oct. 8.

All four bonded out of New Hanover County jail Tuesday afternoon, Williams said.
