A 34-year-old woman from Massachusetts is accused of knocking a Vietnam veteran to the ground while he expressed his support for President Donald Trump.

Police in Douglas said they were called several times around 12:10 p.m. Saturday for a report of a disturbance at the intersection of Main and Webster streets.

“Upon arrival officers learned that a couple from Douglas were located at the intersection promoting Donald Trump with their flags and signs,” police said. “Approximately 30 minutes after they arrived, they were approached by a party opposing their support that began to berate them with insults and demanded that they leave.”

The couple tried to move away, but the woman who confronted the couple continued to follow them. The woman then bumped the man, police said.

“At one point the party stepped on the victim’s Veterans for Trump sign and as he bent over to pick it up the party knocked him to the ground causing an injury to his finger,” according to Douglas police.

Police identified the woman as 34-year-old Kiara R. Dudley of 1 SW Main St. in Douglas. She was charged with assault and battery on an elderly person causing injury.

Dudley was released on $250 cash bail and will be arraigned in Uxbridge District Court on Monday.

In her booking photo, Dudley has a sticker showing her support for Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
