In South Carolina, it doesn't pay to be a good samaritan.

Two African American teens, Deon Frasier, 17, and Michael Dupree-Taylor, 19, asked a passer-by,  45-year-old Chadwick Garrett, also African American, to help them pull their 2016 Dodge Durango out of a ditch. Garrett agreed to help them for the very low fee of $20.

The teens agreed. However, after Garrett pulled their Durango out of the ditch, instead of paying him for his help, the teens instead pulled out a gun and shot him several times in the chest, killing him. The two teens then fled the scene in the rescued Dodge Durango.

The two teens might have gotten away with it, except that the vehicle they fled in apparently belonged to one of their mothers who called 911, 20 minutes after the shooting, to report the vehicle stolen. When police arrived at the woman's house, she told them that both the suspects were inside.

After a brief stand off, the two teens surrendered. Dupree-Taylor confessed to being at the scene of the shooting and Frasier confessed to being the gunman that shot and killed Garrett.

This is just one more story that shows what being a good guy gets you these days. Pretty soon, there won't be any good samaritans left.
