Former President Donald Trump ripped the current President, saying that in a span of a month, Joe Biden turned the US from America First to America Last. Trump made his first public appearance since stepping down from office, delivering the keynote speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). He fired at Biden in all directions, covering a variety of issues from the border, to schoolchildren, and to working families.
“Joe Biden has had the most disastrous first month of any president in modern history, that’s true. Already the Biden administration has proven that they are anti-jobs, anti-family, anti-borders, anti-energy, anti-women, and anti-science. In just one short month, we have gone from America first to America last,” said Trump.
From America First to America Last
Trump called out the Biden White House for its “callous indifference toward working families” by not allowing American schoolchildren back to school. “They must get back and get back right now, right now. The Biden administration is actually bragging about the classroom education they are providing to migrant children on the border while at the same time, millions of American children are having their futures destroyed by Joe Biden’s anti-science school closures. Think of it, we’re educating students on the border, but our own people, children of our citizens, citizens themselves, are not getting the education that they deserve,” Trump added.
“There’s no reason whatsoever why the vast majority of young Americans should not be back in school immediately. The only reason that most parents do not have that choice is that Joe Biden sold out America’s children to the teachers’ unions. His position is morally inexcusable, you know that. Joe Biden has shamefully betrayed America’s youth, and he is cruelly keeping our children locked in their homes, no reason for it whatsoever, they want to get out,” he said.
Trump Says No To Forming a New Party
Speaking in front of an adoring crowd, the former president started his 90-minute speech with guns blazing. “I stand before you today to declare that the incredible journey we began together four years ago is far from over,” he said.
Trump dismissed the rumors floating that he might start a new party. He described information floating around as fake news. “Wouldn’t that be brilliant? Let’s start a new party so we can divide our vote and never win,” he amusedly pointed out. “We have the Republican Party. It’s going to unite and be stronger than ever before.”
Later, Trump gave notice to 17 fellow Republicans who he said spent more time attacking him than attacking Democrats. These GOP members voted to impeach him for his role in the January 6 Capitol riots. He individually named Senators Mitt Romney (UT), Ben Sasse (NE), Richard Burr (NC), Bill Cassidy (LA), Susan Collins (ME), Lisa Murkowski (AL), and Pat Toomey (PA). In addition, he also called out Representatives Tom Rice (SC), Adam Kinzinger (IL), Dan Newhouse (WA), Anthony Gonzalez (OH), Fred Upton (MI), Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA), Peter Meijer (MI), John Katko (NY), and David Valadao (CA).
Trump made special mention of Senator Liz Cheney (WY), who he called a “warmonger” who loves seeing American troops fighting. He said that Cheney’s poll numbers already dropped “faster than any human being” because she opposed him. So, he hopes Wyoming voters get rid of her next election. “Get rid of them all,” he said.
Hints for 2024
In addition, Trump scored the current president for reversing his administration’s policies on immigration and border security. “We all knew that the Biden administration was going to be bad but none of us even imagined just how bad they would be and how far left they would go,” he said.
During the majority of his speech, Trump repeated his belief that Democrats stole the elections via fraud. He hinted at a possible run in 2024. “Actually you know they just lost the White House. But who knows, who knows? I may even decide to beat them for a third time, OK?” he told a cheering crowd.
