Washington Football Team defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio says he is “not afraid to say I love my country.”

In an interview with The Athletic, Del Rio talked about sharing his opinions on political matters, including the fallout that comes after.

“I am open to discuss at any time with anyone my thoughts and respectfully have exchanges,” he said. “It’s just not always possible in today’s environment. I think it’s important to be able to have your own opinion and respect for each other.”

“People may have an opinion that is different than mine, which is okay. I’m okay with actually having a conversation about it with anyone, including my players,” he then added.

Fox News explained that Del Rio caught attention in June when he sent out some political tweets and got criticized for being a “Trump supporter.”

In response to an NBC Sports article with the title “Washington Football Team DC Jack Del Rio explains why he's so active on Twitter,” Del Rio said on Monday that he is “not really all that active …..just not afraid to say I love my country. God Bless America and God Bless the men and women that have fought for our freedoms and those that serve now and keep us safe.”
