  • It seems like Bernie Sanders is tired fighting with Trump, so he has turned his eyes towards the company behind Mickey Mouse.
  • The CEO of Disney shot back at Bernie after a comment that he made and said, “how many jobs have you created?”
  • Bernie made comments about the company saying, “an example of what we're talking about when we talk about a rigged economy.”

After Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders criticized Disney during a recent campaign stop, the CEO of the company fired back at the Vermont senator, asking him bluntly, “How many jobs have you created?”
According to the Los Angeles Times, Sanders condemned Disney at a campaign stop in California Tuesday, calling the corporation “an example of what we’re talking about when we talk about a rigged economy.”

“Anybody make a living wage working for Disney?” Sanders asked his supporters, adding, “Disney pays its workers wages that are so low that many of them are forced to live in motels because they cannot afford a decent place to live.”

“It would be very nice of the Disney corporation to start building factories in the United States,” Sanders continued.

In a private Facebook post obtained by The Wrap, Disney CEO Bob Iger wrote, “To Bernie Sanders: We created 11,000 new jobs at Disneyland in the past decade, and our company has created 18,000 in the US in the last five years.”

“How many jobs have you created?” he added. “What have you contributed to the US economy?”

A spokesperson for Disney told TheWrap in a statement that Sanders “clearly doesn’t have his facts right”:

The Disneyland Resort generates more than $5.7 billion annually for the local economy, and as the area’s largest employer has added more than 11,000 jobs over the last decade, a 65% increase. These numbers don’t take into account our $1 billion expansion to add a Star Wars-themed land, which will create thousands of additional jobs across multiple sectors.

According to OpenSecrets.org, Iger is a supporter of Sanders’ rival former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and has contributed $2,700 to her campaign, the maximum donation to a campaign from an individual permitted by law.

Sanders actually, surprisingly, has a point, here. The laws passed by the Congress, including senators like Bernie, have allowed companies like Disney, to fire Americans and hire in twice as many foreigners fir the same money. Sure Disney, you created jobs. How many Americans are working for you. NO! you may not count those on H1B or other visas….no children of illegals….no ‘exchange students’. I use quotes there because those kids come here, but ours don’t go anywhere. I am sure Disney does what the Amusement park on I95 in VA does(whatever its name is now). They bring in foreign kids put them up in the attached hotel, pay lower wages than they would to the local kids, and call it a good thing. I know my town had too few jobs for the kids once they started this nonsense. I talked to several kids at Yellowstone Park also using these programs. But Bernie, did you vote against this stuff?

well, valid point on both sides but they did not address his point. They talked about how many jobs they create, but Sanders questioned how much those jobs PAY. which is a whole other issue.

Disney CEO Bob Iger, must be a Donald J. Trump supporter. Since, he is the only POTUS candidate, that has created jobs. Oh, I see that he supports HRC. Why, she has not created any more jobs, than Bernie Sanders? I think we all know the answer.

Thought that old fart Bernie was Goofy not the mouse?

  • Alice peacock says:

Disney employees thousands.they love their jobs…what has Sanders done for the economy American people.? He has been the leading joke , a front to hid what Obama has done. That’s all he has been good for ! A shake of the head in awe that any real VP can be so stupid.!

forced to live in motels because they cannot afford a decent place to live.” What a completely idiotic misleading statement. Anybody who takes the time to investigate would know that to stay in pretty much any motel/hotel for 30days a month would cost at least twice as much(and often much more) as an apartment or small home would cost to rent or even pay a mortgage on. But then, most Bernie supporters are pretty clueless to reality it seems.
