Biden Wants More Gun Control Following July 4th Weekend Violence in Democrat-Run Cities
President Biden responded to Fourth of July weekend gun violence in a number of Democrat-controlled communities by advocating for a ban on “assault weapons,” a prohibition on “high capacity” magazines, universal background checks, and other measures.
Thirty individuals were shot during a block party in Democrat-controlled Baltimore shortly after 12:30 a.m. Breitbart News reported on Sunday.
Baltimore, like all of Maryland, already has an “assault weapons” prohibition, “high capacity” magazine restriction, universal background checks, and many other gun regulations.
According to Breitbart News, at least 32 individuals were shot in Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson's Chicago between Friday and Monday morning. Three of the gunshot victims died as a result of their injuries.
Chicago, like the rest of Illinois, has an “assault weapons” prohibition, a “high capacity” magazine ban, a 72-hour waiting period before purchasing a gun, a gun owner license requirement, and a slew of additional restrictions.
On the evening of the Fourth of July, four men and a 15-year-old kid were killed in a shooting in Philadelphia. According to a Daily Mail article, the suspected Philly shooter was a cross-dresser who backed Black Lives Matter.
According to CNBC, Biden replied to the shootings by saying, “It is within our power to once again ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, to require safe storage of guns, to end gun manufacturers’ immunity from liability, and to enact universal background checks.”
On the eve of the Fourth of July, a shooting happened in Fort Worth, Texas, which has a Republican mayor. According to the New York Times, multiple shooters “[fired] indiscriminately into a crowd,” killing three people.
