- Charles Wade, the man who was arrested, was arrested for “allegedly” hiring a 17-year-old girl for sex.
- Undercover agents discovered that Wade should be charged with seven counts, including human trafficking, the sentence is up to 25 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
- Wade said that he was helping the “women” find shelter and that she claimed to have been 20.
A member of the Black Lives Matter movement who was active in the protests in Ferguson, Missouri was arrested and charged last month with human trafficking and prostitution, Fox 2 reported Thursday.
According to court records obtained by the television station, Charles Wade, was arrested in April for allegedly hiring out a 17-year-old girl for sex in College Park, Maryland.
The operation was discovered by undercover agents.
The Daily Caller, which also obtained the arrest report, said Wade was charged with seven counts, including felonies for human trafficking. The charges carry sentences of up to 25 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
Wade posted $25,000 bond and left jail on April 27, according to the Daily Caller.
Wade currently runs Operation Help or Hush, a non-profit created during the Ferguson protests.
Last September he began crowdfunding a center for children and youth near Ferguson, according to Fox 2.
He was included in a profile by The Washington Post of Black Lives Matter activists last year who protested the August 2014 shooting of Michael Brown by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson.
Wade said in a statement on Twitter he was asked to help the woman, who claimed she was 20, to find an emergency shelter.
“Hindsight is 20/20 and in my desire to help her as she was displaced, I did not protect myself,” he wrote, “As I did not know her or her prior behavior other than substance abuse that I was told she had ‘kicked.’”

I CONCUR with Daren. This blanket accusation of just ONE individual who has not even been yet been found guilty or innocent of an allegation wholly lacks merit, in particularity when an entire Organization of Black Lives Matter is wrongfully faulted by the alleged actions of one.

Even HONEST black people decry BLM as a racist organization with no clear cut goals that only serves to: protect the interests of the very thugs who are responsible for the deaths of more innocent blacks than anyone else, while virtually INSURING LESS patrolling and longer response times by the police. “The Ferguson effect” that Sharpton, Obama, Holder and Lynch have brought about, And the result of that has been? A SPIKE in inner city shooting deaths across the nation. There is an old saying that you need to remind that OTHER white livin’, gangsta hustlin’, hypocrite Knowles of: “Be very careful what you ask for… sometimes… YOU GET IT!”
As much as I despise BLM and what it stands for as a white retired cop, I have to say that I would want more details, before nailing his coffin shut.
This could be a valid charge lineup, or it could be as he claims. I’d want to see more of the “arrangement” details that the police are using as evidence. Being a public figure now, he becomes a target for any schemes and discrediting scams. He also is said to be responsible for the establishment of a youth help center and he may have actually been trying to help. Contrary to what some seem to think, anyone is still innocent until proven guilty.
I’ve seen many young ladies from 14 to 30 who didn’t look their ages. The difference between the appearance of a 17 year old and a 20 year old can be non-existent. A drug history can add years to appearance, and I’ve found that many lose their ID somewhere along the line and will spend their money for more drugs rather than replace an ID. How many attempting to “help” someone will insist on checking an ID first?
How many young girls lie about their age because they think that being an adult gets them more, or better treatment? Then when they get caught doing something wrong, remember that they are under age and thus a “juvenile” under the court system.
If he is in fact guilty, they need to throw the book at him for abusing his position, but they need to be sure that they are not making a martyr of someone honestly trying to help. His organization’s history is shady at the least and criminal in the eyes of most, but many groups that evolved into helpful organizations started as radical, almost cult and pro-violence groups. I hope the same happens with BLM before it awakens the ire of the silent majority and dies a very violent death!

Your headline is inflammatory and incorrect. A man has been charged with a crime, and you generalize it to include the entire Black Lives Matter organization. Furthermore, this matter has not even gone to trial so the facts can be stated.
