Beyond Cinema, an Australian entertainment and event company, has announced that its boat-in “Floating Cinema” will return with a “twist” in select U.S. cities throughout September and October.
The company previously hosted the experience in Sydney, Australia, in 2018 and 2019.
Beyond Cinema is now adjusting its screening capacity to 12 to 24 mini boats. Each boat can hold up to eight people. Customers must purchase an entire mini boat if they want to stay and sit with friends and family. It also lets people practice “social distancing on and between boats,” said Beyond Cinema’s pre-registration ticket page.
This was the scene Saturday night in Paris, which held a socially distant floating movie experience.
It will be in NYC for one week, from Sept. 16 to 20, then Cleveland, and Cincinnati from a Sydney based company called Beyond Cinema. #Entertainment #CX #Movies #Summer pic.twitter.com/oAUIDbUES4

Beyond Cinema listed 16 cities so far. This includes Los Angeles, Denver, San Diego, San Francisco, St. Louis, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, New York, Pittsburgh, Austin, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Columbus, and Cincinnati. It also listed three Canadian cities: Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary.
“Movies are set to be a mix of golden oldies and new releases but will be announced when tickets go on sale! There will be free popcorn for everyone attending, and other movie snacks and drinks will be available to purchase before you set sail,” the company said on its pre-registration page.
