Border Patrol has caught a convicted rapist who entered the United States earlier this week, according to Customs and Border Protection.

Aurelio Sandoval-Valdivia, 54, is a Mexican national who has a felony conviction for rape. Border Patrol officers arrested him on Monday night in Yuma Arizona. He was with a group of 17 other people who illegally crossed the border.

As per the CBP, they processed Sandoval-Valdivia’s case following department guidelines.

Sandoval-Valdivia also had records of misdemeanor convictions, including willful cruelty to a child and driving under the influence. The man was also previously deported from the United States.

Currently, the country is facing a serious crisis at the southern border. However, the current administration claims that it’s only a “challenge” and not a crisis.

The Biden administration’s efforts to reverse former President Trump’s immigration policies have attracted many migrant hopefuls from Central America. These include migrant children. Many of them flock to the border, thinking that, despite not having the proper documentation, the government would welcome them with open arms.
