California Driver Plows Through Pro-Trump Rally, Charged with Attempted Murder
A California woman, part of the “Caravan for Justice” rally, has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly drove her car through the pro-Trump counter-protest Saturday, hitting two people.
Tatiana Turner, 40, was booked into the Orange County Jail for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon after she drove through the group of Trump supporters outside the Yorba Linda Public Library around 3 p.m. local time, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
A man and a woman were hospitalized with “major injuries” but are expected to survive.
The original Caravan for Justice rally, planned by the Urban Organizers Coalition against police brutality, social injustice and systemic racism, was scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday.
Trump supporters then counter-scheduled their own rally for the same time at the same location.
Orange County police said “physical altercations” broke out between the two groups within half an hour, including at least one use of pepper spray by a protester.
Officials ordered both groups to disperse and declared an unlawful assembly.
Shortly after the order, Turner allegedly drove her car through the remaining Trump supporters.
Another person at the dueling rallies, 46-year-old Jason Mancuso, was arrested on charges of failure to obey the dispersal order.
