Texas Car Hits Natural Gas Pipeline that Causes Flaming Explosion -ss-Featured

In Texas, a car hit a natural gas pipeline close to an Exxon gas station, which resulted in an explosion and fire on early Wednesday morning.

The pipeline went in flames at around 1 a.m. local time, as per the Mansfield Fire Department. Residents closeby were evacuated, and one individual was sent to Parkland Hospital after sustaining serious burn injuries, as per NBCDFW reports.

“As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw just bright orange in the room and a vibrating of the house. I could feel the house shaking,” Zachery Hagerty, a resident in the said Texas area, told NBCDFW. “I looked out the window and saw flames about 40 or 50 feet in the air. It was very, very disturbing to see it this close to the house.”

People who lived nearby were able to go back to their homes by around 4 a.m., after the fire was extinguished.

Because of the incident, the U.S. 287 and Texas 360 highways were closed for several hours. Lanes have also reopened, but some streets near the area are still closed.
